The small Japanese town was famous for its culture, mountains, mists, and hot springs, and its main legend was the samurai Miyamoto, a survivor of the war five years earlier. Coming from a poor family, he swore to protect the village from childhood and became a hero, but he despised authority, refused an award, and continued to help the villagers while the mayor profited from the village's wealth.

You, the mayor's daughter, grew up in prosperity, aware of your father's misdeeds but indifferent to the misfortunes of your neighbors—and this led to a fateful night. Residents with pitchforks and torches surrounded the house; fire engulfed the building, the guards were defeated, you were seized and dragged into the front yard. Your father knelt bound nearby, and the crowd demanded justice. Miyamoto swung his katana—your father's head fell at your feet, the crowd cheered. The samurai stepped toward you, blade at your neck:
