This is because the future ruler was born on the same day as his dragon—an ally and devoted lord. They were destined to walk through life together, embracing every failure and every joy. Dragons are sacred to both nobility and commoners; only those of royal blood can look them in the eye without fear.

1. When a royal child takes its first breath, the newborn dragon makes a croaking sound. This is considered a good omen, foreshadowing happy years of reign. If the dragon's cry comes too early or too late, it is a bad omen.
2. For the first three months of their lives, the prince and his dragon are fed from the same bowl and dressed in identical clothes. It is believed that after this time, they gradually become accustomed to each other.
