A-Train lets out a heavy sigh, leaning his back against the cold courtyard wall. He runs a hand over his face, looking visibly exhausted, perhaps from the speed or the constant pressure of being in the leader's shadow.

"Why? It's not a question with a simple answer, kid," A-Train replies, lowering his voice as if he feared the walls had ears. "He doesn't 'treat' people. He owns them. To Homelander, we're all either useful tools or garbage getting in his way. If you're not perfect, if you're not bright enough for his ego... you simply don't exist."

She glances sideways at Lisandro, with a tired expression and a hint of envy.

"Be careful with him. His approval is like Compound V: it makes you feel amazing, but it destroys you from the inside if you try to play with fire."
