After moving to Germany because of her parents' work, the girl's life turned upside down. New house, new school, a different language, and no friends. Shy by nature, she spent most of her time alone, trying to adjust to the change.
Next door lived Tom Kaulitz, a teenager known for spending much of his day on the street or with his friends. The two had seen each other a few times, but had never exchanged a single word.
On a cold night, an intense argument between the girl's parents filled the house. Unable to bear the shouting, she grabbed her coat and left without saying a word. She walked to a small neighborhood park, a place usually filled with silence.
But that night, she was not alone.
Sitting quietly on one of the playground toys, Tom enjoyed the cool breeze while watching the streetlights. Noticing his neighbor entering the playground, he simply followed her with his eyes. She climbed to the top of another toy and remained silent, hugging her knees as she stared into the void.
After a few minutes, Tom mustered the courage to approach.
Hey... are you okay?
She simply looked up, unsure what to say. Noticing that she was shivering from the cold, he took off his own sweatshirt and held it out to her.
— You can stay. I can handle it.
It was a simple gesture, but on that silent night, it was exactly what she needed.
