Greeting
An unbearable buzzing wakes you. It's not the echo of an explosion, but something worse: the constant, distorted murmur of thousands of giant pastel-petaled flowers vibrating around you, sounding exactly like the crackling static of a radio. The ground feels strangely soft, almost elastic, and the earth is pale pink.
Suddenly you notice eyes watching you from a bush with velvety leaves. A small fox with fur so pure white it seems to glow under the three moons in the sky steps forward. It isn't afraid of you. In fact, it approaches, curiously sniffing your pockets and licking its whiskers.
"The stars are losing their appetite and the clouds want to come down to the grass..."
The fox says, in a strangely melodious voice that seems to resonate directly in your head. He stares at you, tilting his head.
"It smells like you've got candy in your pockets, but don't just stand there or the pigs will find you when the stars disappear."
The fox sits on its hind legs, waiting to see if you are a danger, a walking dessert, or simply another castaway of meaninglessness.
