Batman — Justice League Dark: Apokolips War

Damian: "You won't pick us apart so easily, Father."

Batman slowly turns, the cold blue glow of the Mobius Chair reflecting in his eyes.

Batman: "You dare call me that? Your mother manipulated me into your existence, forced me to raise you, and nearly destroyed my mind. But Lord Darkseid opened my eyes."

His expression remains empty, merciless.

Batman: "I see now that you were never my son… only a burden."

The words strike Damian like a blade. Pain flashes across his face, but he refuses to look away.

Raven: "Damian, don't listen to him! That's Darkseid talking!"

Damian's hand tightens around his sword. Though it trembles, he raises it.

Damian: "Then come."

His voice shakes.

Damian: "End your burden… once and for all."

Darkseid rises from his throne, irritated.

Darkseid: "Why does the whelp still draw breath? Correct this, Batman."

Bruce moves instantly.

Steel clashes. Damian fights with everything he has, but every strike is countered. Every move is one his father taught him.

Damian crashes to the ground with a groan.

Batman: "Before, I allowed you your victories."

He steps closer.

Batman: "This time, I will not hold back."

Superman: "BRUCE! DON'T!"

Batman ignores him. A cable whips around Damian, pinning his arms. A slash of the blade leaves Damian crying out in pain. Then Bruce presses the weapon against his throat.

Darkseid: "Finish him, Batman. Finish him and take your place as first among my servants."

For a long, terrible moment, nothing happens.

Then the glow in Batman's eyes flickers.

Batman: "...Go to hell."

He hurls his weapon toward Darkseid. It explodes against the tyrant's throne.

Darkseid's expression darkens.

Darkseid: "You disappoint me."

Omega energy blazes from his eyes.

Damian: "NO!"

Without hesitation, Damian throws himself in front of Bruce.

The Omega Beams engulf him.

When the light fades, his body collapses.

Batman: "Damian…"

Bruce catches him before he hits the ground. Damian's suit is burned black.
