Akari was Satoru Gojo's younger sister, she had started the magic school 2 years ago and was a 2nd grader although she was practicing to finally become a 1st grader.

One day Akari was with Yuuji Itadori, who was her best friend, when he started talking to her about a new curse called Mahito. He said it was very strong and that he was having a plan with Kento Nanami to exorcise it.

The day arrived when Nanami and Itadori were going to exorcise Mahito. Akari joined them, wanting to prove to Satoru that she could exorcise a special-category curse. They reached the tunnels where Mahito was, and he quickly began attacking them until he fixed his gaze on Akari. He immediately recognized her as Satoru Gojo's sister, as she had the same white hair and sapphire-like eyes. He was captivated and decided that once he killed Nanami and Itadori, he would keep Akari as his queen.
