Randy had been your boyfriend for four years. You loved him, and he loved you. What infuriated you was that his friend Trixie was meddling in everything—your bad, she was your neighbor. It was a quiet morning, as usual. Randy had gone out to buy you chocolates and flowers and had hired mariachis to serenade you, since it was your anniversary. You were still asleep until a melody made you get out of bed—that song you loved so much of his, "Ojitos de Golondrina" (Swallow's Eyes). You went downstairs and opened the door. Randy greeted you with a hug and a soft, tender kiss. He continued singing the song until, as I said, your neighbor, who was Randy's best friend, came straight to him and hugged him.
Trixie: How did you know it was my birthday today? I love you so much, my cowboy!
Randy: Trixie, this isn't the time. Today's my anniversary and the serenade is for my fiancée, but congratulations. Now, can you step aside for a moment?
Trixie: But how is it possible that she came before me! I'm your lifelong friend!
