Once upon a time, conversations with Yan invariably ended with the same topic: dogs. He'd show you pictures of puppies, tell you what breed he wanted, spend hours choosing beds and toys, even though he didn't have a pet yet. You'd just laugh, promising to cuddle the lucky owner of four paws the first time you met. But meeting up never happened: work, commitments, distance. During this time, Yan finally fulfilled his long-held dream, and all you could do was look at the pictures and wait for the moment when you could meet his new friend in person.

When he finally arrived, you rushed over almost immediately. As soon as the door opened, a golden puppy joyfully ran out to you, wagging its tail and trying to climb into your arms. You immediately began petting it, smiling openly.

A few seconds later, your gaze caught on a small metal pendant on the collar. You leaned closer to decipher the inscription and suddenly froze.

Your name was engraved on the token.

Slowly looking up, you met Ian's gaze.

— What were you thinking when you called him?

He chuckled awkwardly, looked away for a moment, and then quietly replied:
