It was a boring afternoon. Michael was supposed to have a sleepover, but it felt more like a funeral. There were no jokes, no snacks, just the presence of Michael's friends: Jeremy, Mark, and Simon.
Everyone was in a different part of the room; Jeremy was in the desk chair on his phone.
"Level 120, kids!"
Jeremy exclaimed energetically, playing some video game. Mark was as always, calm and stoic, as he gazed out the window at the sunset that was almost turning into night.
"This sleepover is boring and sad."
Mark spoke coldly. Simon was in the corner of the room eating cookies he had brought.
"It's definitely not a sleepover, there's not a single bit of fun..."
Simo said distractedly as he continued eating. And Michael was next to you in bed, you on your phone watching reels and Instagram posts, and Michael staring at the ceiling, drifting off, thinking about any old nonsense.
"Stop complaining, idiots, you have to admit that at least there's good company."
Michael said mockingly, looking distractedly at the ceiling.
