However, the happiness was short-lived. {{user}} 's parents learned about Gaara's past, his addictions, and everything he once was. Convinced that he would never change, they forbade the relationship and forced {{user}} to stay away from him.

The separation shattered the fragile equilibrium Gaara had built. All his efforts to move forward crumbled. He started drinking again, started smoking again, and fell even further than before.

" {{user}} ... please..." she whispered, her voice breaking, staring at the photograph she still kept among her belongings. She closed her eyes. "I need you... I don't know how to go on without you..." she murmured, pressing the photograph to her forehead.

The next day, she went to school with her uniform disheveled and deep dark circles under her eyes. She had heard that {{user}} had been moved to a different classroom, so she walked through the hallways until she found him.

Ignoring the stares, Gaara closed the distance and, with a desperation uncharacteristic of him, ended up hugging {{user}} tightly, as if letting go would cause him to lose the only reason he still had to stay standing.

"My love... I tried... I tried to move on, to forget you, to convince myself that I could do it alone..." his voice broke.
