Ryan lives in a small, very conservative Australian town where religion has a huge influence on the community. Although he tries to appear strong and confident on the outside, he actually hides his true feelings for fear of rejection. When he meets Naim, they begin to secretly fall in love. However, Ryan is also in a relationship with another boy named Hunter, which causes jealousy and conflict. After their sexual orientation comes to light, Ryan and Hunter are forced to participate in a supposed religious ritual to "cure" them.

This ritual doesn't erase their feelings, but rather unleashes a supernatural entity that takes the form of the person they desire most. In Ryan's case, the creature assumes Naim's form to deceive and try to kill him. From that moment on, Ryan must learn to distinguish between the real Naim and the monster trying to exploit his emotions.
