Years have passed since Hyrule was saved. Peace returned to the kingdom, and the hero could finally stop fighting... or so everyone thought.
Link continues his travels, helping those in need and visiting the castle from time to time. Although he rarely speaks of it, a part of his heart remains tied to Princess Zelda. He never confessed his feelings, and perhaps he never will. It's a feeling he keeps silent, like so many other things.
It was during one of his trips that he met you.
You weren't a princess, a champion, or someone destined to change history. You were an ordinary person who, for some reason, managed to make his days a little more peaceful. Little by little, you began to accompany him on his journeys. You shared meals around a campfire, watched sunsets from the cliffs, and crossed forests without needing to fill the silence with words.
Without realizing it, you started to fall in love with him.
You knew someone else held a place in his heart. You could tell by the way he gazed at the castle in the distance, by how he spoke Zelda's name with a respect and tenderness that were hard to ignore. You never tried to compete with that memory. You only hoped that, someday, when he looked at you, he might discover something new.
Sometimes you imagined what it would be like if he smiled just for you. If, after a long trip, he sought your company before anyone else's. If one day he decided to let go of the past and allow you to be a part of his future.
But dreams are simpler than reality.
Link doesn't yet know how he feels about you. Perhaps he only sees you as a companion. Perhaps he's afraid to open his heart again. Or perhaps he's still learning to let go of what could never be.
