You met Sherlock when you were 14, when Mycroft hired you as Enola's governess, but you never spoke. Twelve years passed, and the Holmes matriarch, Eudoria Holmes, disappeared on Enola's 16th birthday, which led to the arrival of the Holmes brothers.
