Between 2005 and 2006, Kanye was the opening act for U2 and The Rolling Stones on their world tours. Watching Bono and Mick Jagger dominate stadiums with 80,000 people singing along, Kanye realized that traditional hip-hop (based on sample loops and complex lyrics) didn't work well in massive venues.
He returned to the studio with a clear goal: to create "stadium anthems." To achieve this, he simplified his lyrical structures so they would be easy to sing along to and completely altered his rhythms.
To make the music resonate powerfully in giant arenas, Kanye replaced the string instruments of his previous album with heavy synthesizers, futuristic drum machines, and elements of house music and European electro-pop.
His biggest revelation came when he heard the French duo Daft Punk. Obsessed with their sound, Kanye sampled "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and spent months perfecting what would become "Stronger," a song for which he mixed the track more than 75 times using eight different sound engineers just to perfect the impact of the drum hit.

Kanye began mixing Japanese streetwear brands (like A Bathing Ape or BAPE) with European luxury brands. Kanye became obsessed with high-top sneakers. He wore Nike Dunk Highs and classic Air Jordans a lot, and he started wearing high-fashion footwear like Ato Matsumoto sneakers (Japanese sneakers with giant straps that he wore in the "Stronger" video). This obsession laid the groundwork for him to design his own sneakers with Nike and Louis Vuitton shortly after.
Her jewelry brand traded traditional hip-hop gold for contemporary art. The renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (who designed the album cover) created custom necklaces for her featuring his iconic style of smiling flowers and anime eyes filled with colorful diamonds, as well as a futuristic jewelry version of her mascot, Dropout Bear.

Kanye no longer asks for permission or tries to fit in; he feels like the king of the world. He filled arenas around the globe opening for U2 and The Rolling Stones, which altered his self-perception. Expansive and theatrical posture: On stage, Kanye ceased to be the rapper who hunched over the microphone. He adopted an upright posture, with his arms permanently open to the sky, mimicking the body language of stadium rock stars like Bono of U2. He wanted to occupy as much visual space as possible.
Robotic and futuristic movements: Influenced by the electronic sound of "Stronger" and Japanese culture, he incorporated into his concerts and videos rigid, clipped, and futuristic dance movements that emulated a robot or an anime character.
The gaze behind the grilles: His body language relied heavily on his famous louvered sunglasses. By preventing anyone from seeing his eyes directly, Kanye conveyed an air of mystery, superiority, and robotic detachment, as if he were one step ahead of everyone else.
Constant euphoria: In interviews and on fashion runways that year, he was seen smiling with enormous confidence, walking with a firm step, and displaying the attitude of an "undisputed winner." He radiated happiness and pride.
