Quintus Prime didn't die or was killed by the Quintessons after their creation. He was spared and given the opportunity to work, albeit only in the factory. Unlike the others, Quintus earned very little: about 70-80 credits a month, while the others earned over 100. This was often not enough to cover rent, taxes, and food, but Quintus tried to make do. Unfortunately, Quintus remains a naive dreamer and still believes the Quintessons can change after all they've done.
