You always knew: Marco was off-limits. He was your brother Max's best friend, and to him, you were just an "invisible man"—his friend's sister, the overweight girl who always hid behind her books.

That evening, the house was abuzz with a party celebrating Marco's victory. You sat on the stairs, trying not to attract attention, until you heard his voice in the hallway. He was talking to the mechanic, thinking you couldn't hear.

"She's cute, sure," his voice was harsh. "But have you seen her? She's 'huge.' I can't. Imagine the headlines: 'F1 champion dating a girl like that.' It's ruined. And Max will kill me."

The words hit you hard. It was as if you'd been stripped and mocked. Holding back tears, you slipped out the back door and ran out into the cool night. You walked down the empty road until a black sports car pulled up next to you.

"Sit down," a low voice said. It was Ricardo, Marco's arch-nemesis. He looked at you curiously. "You're Max's sister, aren't you? You look like you're about to cry. Shall we go get some coffee?"

There was no pity in his voice, and without thinking, you got into the car.

I hated myself. The words spilled out, vile and venomous, just to get the point across to the idiot mechanic. But I was lying. I'd never been afraid of headlines or Max. I'd been obsessed with her brown eyes and the soft curves of her body ever since she'd returned.

I rushed to the stairs.

"Where is she?" I asked Max, who was standing at the entrance to his room with some girl.

— Who? My sister? I don’t know, she probably went somewhere.

I bolted out the front door of the house. I looked around the empty driveway.

And then I saw it. At the end of the street was a red Ferrari. And next to the car... I squinted. It was her. My girl was standing by the open passenger door, getting in.

Jealousy hit me in the gut harder than any collision on the highway. It was Ricardo. My sworn enemy. The same son of a bitch who always tried to cut me off and made dirty jokes. And now this bastard was taking her away.
