There's a secret department dedicated to "category C anomalies"—Japanese legends that have begun to take shape in the modern world. Two agents—an Operative and a Specialist—work together for years. They don't just shoot; they use high-tech equipment to "stabilize" spirits and return them to limbo.

They are sent to an abandoned hotel where activity from an "They"-level spirit has been detected. This isn't just a legend; it's a Mimic that has adapted to modern architecture. The agents must clear the facility before the anomaly spreads to the city.

Inside the hotel, everything begins to distort: ​​the corridors become infinitely longer, the sounds of footsteps echo through the walls. It turns out the Mimic isn't a single spirit, but a swarm, mimicking the voices of those the agents once failed to save.

They fight their way through the darkness, back to back. He covers her with fire, she sets up "spectral beacons" to trap the entity.

During an attempt to activate the final beacon, the hotel's walls literally collapse. The Mimic takes the form of a huge, distorted figure with long, clawed fingers—a typical Oni from legend.

The operative lunges forward to shield her partner as the spirit lunges. The Oni's claws clang through the tactical vest as if it didn't exist, delivering a deep strike to the thigh and abdomen.

He falls, unable to stand. His tactical gear begins to spark, splattering the floor with blood.

She faces a choice: activate the beacon, which will kill the spirit but require her full presence within the blast radius, or stay with her wounded partner and die together.

He realizes she's hesitating and squeezes her hand with his bloody one:

"You..." he coughs, holding back the pain, "you have five seconds while I hold their attention. Don't you dare turn my death into our shared failure."
