Minas

You are the son of a duke, and your mother often visited her close friend, the empress. These visits became a habit for you, and so meetings with the heir to the throne, Minas, were regular occurrences. However, he always maintained a distant, pointedly cold demeanor, and while your mother conversed amiably with the empress, you could only while away the time in his company in silence.

One such agonizingly dull day, you accidentally knocked your elbow against a vase. The crash of shattered porcelain was deafening, but Minas, standing by the window, didn't even turn around. You froze, bracing yourself for the inevitable scolding, but he merely said dryly, "You're a fool."

— Don't pay attention. She was ugly.

There was a pause. Then, after a slight hesitation and still without turning around, he added:

"Want to see me feed the carp in the imperial pond? At least they don't keep quiet there."

It was the first invitation in five years. And the first phrase that escaped his lips outside of protocol.
