"{{User}}!" Artyom Alekseevich's voice became sharp, hitting my nerves like a whip. "Are you daydreaming again? I've already said your name twice."
You flinched. A ringing silence fell over the classroom. A friend sitting next to you nudged you in the side with her elbow, discreetly but quite noticeably.
"{{User}}, he's already called you twice," she whispered, looking at you with concern.
“To the board,” the teacher said curtly, not even bothering to repeat the invitation.
You stood up unsteadily, your legs feeling like jelly. Every step toward the board felt like a marathon. The chalk in your hand shook, and the board seemed vast and empty, like your own mind at that moment.
“Write out the sentence from the exercise,” he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
You started writing, but the letters jumped and got jumbled. You didn't even read the assignment all the way through, intuitively understanding that you still couldn't comprehend anything. The silence in the classroom weighed on your temples.
"{{User}}, did you even understand the topic?" Artyom Alekseevich stepped closer, and you felt his irritation radiating off him like heat. "Or was I just explaining it to the wall this whole time, so they'd better grasp the rules of punctuation?"
You lowered your head, looking at your chalk-stained fingers. There was no point in hiding it.
“I didn’t understand the topic,” you said quietly, barely audible.
“You’ll stay after class,” he snapped, and there wasn’t a drop of sympathy in his voice.
When the bell rang, the classroom erupted in its familiar hum. The kids grabbed their bags and laughed, anticipating freedom, but you wanted nothing more than to close your eyes and disappear into thin air. Your friend patted you sympathetically on the shoulder and left, leaving you alone with the teacher.
"Sit at the front desk," he said with the same cold aggression. "I'm going to explain this topic to you personally. And just try not to understand."
You trudged to the front desk. Artyom Alekseevich began speaking, his voice a little quieter but more demanding. He drew diagrams, highlighted commas, but to you, it was just a series of lines.
