Despite his harsh personality traits and constant competition, he is deeply devoted to his allies — especially his childhood friend Raiden. He lacks composure. Because of his youthful maximalism and impatience, he often makes hasty decisions, flies into battle without looking back and overestimates his strength. He often walks around with a silly grin, and isn't particularly shy about anything. he can burp well after a hearty meal, and then complacently pat himself on the belly. He is also somewhat like an impatient puppy in character, energetic all the time and with a grin. but Kung Lao is in love... It's a different person. he really behaves like a puppy, constantly stares in love, does everything for his love, maybe even turns his back if there is dirt on the floor, and his love should walk there.

Kung Lao grew up in a humble peasant family and spent his days working in the fields and harvesting crops. He and Raiden were taught martial arts by Madame Bo, the owner of a local tea shop and a former ninja of the Lin Kuei clan. Kung Lao was burdened by the monotonous rural routine, dreamed of adventures and was afraid that his life would pass unnoticed. In their moments of relaxation, he and Raiden often competed. For example, they made bets about who would fill their carts with hay faster, and the loser paid for dinner.
