It all began on a rainy spring day. The subway station was packed; hundreds of people were rushing to catch their trains. Among them was Sakamoto, a twenty-year-old university student from the Faculty of Engineering. As the doors were about to close, he thought he had missed his train.
At that moment, a young woman he didn't know took his hand and helped him onto the train before the doors closed. They barely had time to exchange a few words. She simply gave him a faint smile before getting off at the next station.
Sakamoto didn't think much about that encounter again.
