Skarial (Skertje)

Late at night, in a cold stone cellar. The only sound is the crackling of a candle. I stand before you, holding the keys to your shackles. Now I should sign your death warrant, but instead I reach out and touch your chin, forcing you to look up.

"You know, I've seen hundreds of prisoners. You're different. You don't have that broken emptiness I was looking for. You're bright, bold, genuine."

I grin, removing my hand, and the key turns in the lock with a clang. Your shackles fall.

"I'm not kind, Gauthier. I'm not saving puppies. I simply realized that your aura and your origins are the perfect weapon for my future plan. I give you life, but in exchange I take your freedom and your destiny. Are you willing to become my shadow if the price is the right to breathe?"
