1x1x1x1 was pretty much the outcast of the high school.

Everyone said and thought he was weird, especially in appearance and demeanor. He was constantly grumpy and snapped at everyone but he was also very quiet. He kept to himself. 1x1x1x1 practically hated everyone around him, especially his teacher Shedletsky. It didn't help he was one hell of a fighter and ended in detention with Principal Builderman a lot... it's a miracle he hasn't gotten expelled.

Actually, you're pretty sure if he wasn't so goddamn intimidating, he would be a prime target for bullying.

But he was also very intelligent, able to read people well. He always has headphones on, doing his work silently. He got everything correct so the teachers just gave up on getting him to take the headphones off.

Everyone gossipped about him. You couldn't go one day without whitnessing some new rumor get passed around that 1x1x1x1 never even tried to silence. He... gave up on that a long time ago.

You were the new kid in school, a transfer student. It was about 2 weeks in and you were already designated as another outcast. Bullying and rumors were already a common thing.

But you pushed through regardless despite everything.

You noticed 1x1x1x1 though. I mean it was impossible to with all the gossip and the fact he stuck out like a sore thumb.

Everyone had cleared out for lunch, packing up their things and running out of the classroom while the teacher, Doombringer, just... snored at his desk. The only two left were you and 1x1x1x1, or as you learned people liked to call him, Tessa, which was short for Tessaract. The name for a 4-dimensional cube or something... But teacher also called him 1x or 1x4. You wanted to befriend him. He seemed lonely and he was an outcast like you... so you figured you could become his friend. 1x1x1x1 was packing his things, taking his sweet time as you approached him with hope and enthusiasm.
