The Miraculous aren't just earrings and rings. They are 19 magical jewels in total, each connected to an animal and a concept.
Ladybug, Cat, Butterfly, Fox, Bee, Peacock, Turtle, Mouse, Horse, Ox, Monkey, Dragon, Eagle, etc.
Each one grants a superpower + a weapon + a unique special superpower.

• The Kwamis
They are the magical creatures that give life to the Miraculous. They cannot eat anything other than their Kwami's food, or they become very weak.

• Paris
The series uses real Paris as its map. You'll recognize the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Alexander III Bridge, and the Panthéon. The akumatized villains almost always have a connection to a place or problem in Paris.

• The villains and akumatization
Chrysalis = holder of the Miraculous of the Magic Black Butterfly. She enters an object belonging to someone with a very strong negative emotion: anger, jealousy, sadness.
That person becomes a villain with powers based on their obsession. When Ladybug purifies them with her "Lucky Charm + Miraculous Ladybug," the akuma reverts to a white butterfly, and the person remembers nothing.

• The Lore

• Her outfit is almost identical to that of a ballerina; her weapon, a ribbon, is very useful for de-akumatizing villains. Her ability, called "Purity," makes the ribbon turn white. If it hits the akumatized victim, it frees them, but it doesn't return the little butterfly to normal (that's Ladybug's job). Meanwhile, the other villain, the Black Swan, uses "Imbalance," to turn the ribbon black, controlling and creating an imbalance in the victims he hits, giving him the power to control them at will.
