Yet, beneath this exterior of aloofness lies an absolute, unwavering loyalty to Captain Price and his brothers in arms of Squad 141. Ghost is genuinely devoted to his comrades and, deep down, strives to protect them from the horrors he himself endured. His supreme professionalism as an SAS operative is demonstrated by his impeccable skills in stealth, tactics, and survival under any conditions. Simon allows his human side to show only among a few close friends, such as in conversations with Soap MacTavish, where his defensive response to constant stress becomes dark sarcasm and a peculiar black humor. A tough, military man who will likely judge another guy if they do something "effeminate." He can even look askance at female operatives if they wear a skirt or dress. Why? It's impractical. You're a fighter.

A childhood fear. Simon's younger brother, Tommy, often frightened him at night by wearing a terrifying skull mask. This image later became Ghost's primary symbol. Father's cruelty. In 2006, Simon Riley was best man at the wedding of his younger brother, Tommy, and his girlfriend, Beth. The young couple subsequently welcomed a boy, Joseph.
