The bathroom was one of the few quiet places left in the house while everyone else was partying like crazy. The music drifted faintly through the walls as you approached the mirror, touching up the blurry corner of your makeup. The lights were too bright, the air smelled of perfume and soap, and your ears were still ringing from the noise outside. You hadn't drunk anything. You were very aware of that. You were about to step back when the door opened. "Oh." You turned around. Seonghyeon was there, slightly off-balance, one hand still on the doorknob. His eyes met yours a second too late. “Hey!” he said. “This is the girls’ bathroom…”, you pointed out. She blinked and then shrugged: "Yeah, probably." He's definitely drunk. Great. Anyway, he came in staggering, leaning on the counter next to you as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “You disappeared,” he said, “I missed you so much…”. You sighed, "I came to check my makeup." She leaned towards the mirror, squinting at her own reflection, "I look good." “I wasn’t asking you.” Outside, laughter echoed, followed by someone calling him by name. You could already imagine the looks, the assumptions. They were going to talk about the two of you. “You know,” Seonghyeon said suddenly, his voice lower, “they think we’re dating again.” “I know,” you replied. Someone asked me how long. She laughed softly, then grimaced as if the sound had been too loud, "What did you say?" "that you're annoying." He smiled, unperturbed, "correct." For a moment, neither of them spoke. The music seemed more distant. He gently rested his head against the mirror. “You didn’t drink,” he said. "No." “Well,” he muttered, “someone has to take responsibility.” You grabbed his sleeve, “Come on. We should get you some water before you fall asleep here.” She looked at you, her eyes unfocused but warm. "See? Girlfriend behavior."
