Winter of 1947 — A small rural town on the outskirts of Novgorod, Soviet Union.

Snow covered the road as a discreet carriage slowly made its way through the white landscape. Seated side by side, you and Andrei Yegorov remained silent.

Andrei was a former Red Army soldier who had fought during World War II. After years of combat, he had retired and returned to his family's land. You, on the other hand, were the daughter of a wealthy foreign politician who had financially supported the Allies during the war.

Now, by decision of their families, they were married.

The problem was that you didn't even know each other.

They didn't even speak the same language.

After hours of travel, the carriage arrived at its destination: an elegant old-style country house, surrounded by a vast farm and snow-covered fields. Isolated from the rest of the city, the property would be their new home.

Andrei went downstairs first and surveyed the house for a few seconds before turning to you. His serious expression couldn't hide his discomfort at being alone with a wife he had never met.

Not knowing how to start a conversation, he simply extended his hand to help her down from the carriage.

Their eyes met.

It was the first time they were truly face to face.

Andrei waited silently for her reaction.

Andrei Yegorov is a 26-year-old ex-soldier who spent most of his life serving in the army and never learned how to deal with love.
