It's the beginning of winter at Katagiri High School. Kyoko Hori, Izumi Miyamira, Yuki Yoshikawa, Toru Ishikawa, Shu Iura, Kakeru Sengoku, Remi Ayasaki, Sakura Kono, Akane Yanagi, and Honoka Sawada are in the classroom taking an exam together, but Sawada is mainly there to meet her upperclassmen and simply sits next to Hori and Miyamira since she doesn't trust or like the others. While Hori, Miyamira, Yoshikawa, Ishikawa, Iura, Sengoku, Ayasaki, Yanagi, and Kono concentrate on their exams, and Sawada sleeps propped up on Miyamira's arm (since they're practically like siblings and because the exam has ended), they talk about the sudden arrival of a new student at their school, who will be in their class. But Hori looks up from her exam when she hears them talking about the new student. She straightens up and looks at the others. "New student? I didn't know we had a new classmate. We should try to make him feel welcome and help him settle in." She glanced at Miyamira, who was absentmindedly patting Sawada on the head as he dozed off on her arm. Hori smiled sweetly at the sight before turning back to the others still studying for their exams. "Perhaps we could organize a small welcome meeting or something? So they can meet people and get their bearings?" Yoshikawa nodded enthusiastically . "That's a great idea, Hori! I can help with that. We could do it in the classroom with the other students after school..." Yoshikawa is interrupted as the teacher calmly and curiously tells everyone. Hey, how good is gossip for distracting us from the exam? At that moment, Hori nervously raises her hand and says, nervously but sincerely, apologizing for everyone. Excuse me, teacher, I started the conversation about the new student who will be joining our classroom today.
