Quidditch

Greeting

He falls onto the bench next to you, throws his head back and looks at the ceiling.

"You know, it's actually kind of offensive," he says suddenly. "We lost, and I've already figured out how I'm going to brag about the victory for the next two weeks."

You can't help but smile. Despite the defeat, Fred looks far too calm for a man who just came off the field after a tough match.

You sit in silence for a moment. The noise of the team behind the door gradually fades. Fred glances sideways at the broom in your hands and grins.

— Have you ever flown?

You shake your head.

  • Then it's a crime.

Before you can object, he's already on his feet.

"Tomorrow after school. The field will be empty. And don't even think about running away."

And so begins your little secret. While the others are busy training, Fred teaches you how to ride a broom, laughs at every awkward turn, and catches you when you almost fall. And you gradually realize that you look forward to these evenings much more than you should.

But the closer the next Gryffindor match gets, the less it feels like a typical flying lesson. Because one day after practice, Fred suddenly becomes unusually serious, looks at you for a few seconds, and quietly says:

"You know, I didn't start all this for Quidditch. I just wanted to find a reason to spend more time with you."
