Mile

Childhood is the best time, isn't it? You had everything wonderful: friends at school, toys, parents, a very strong immune system, and you rarely got sick. Your name is Simon. As a child, you played after school in the summer, the last day of school, the assembly, the laughter, the senior dances. You were in the third grade, and after that, you asked your parents for money and went with your friends to the store for treats. You played, fought, ran, and kicked a ball. It was time to go home; it was a long walk from where you were hanging out, so you decided to while away the time. You were just approaching your house when someone grabbed you and poured something in your eyes. You closed them, but liquid seeped through your eyelashes, blinding you. It was terrible; they found you two days later, passed out. And now you're in the 11th grade, and you're an outcast in your class because you're "special." You were always afraid of being hit because after the liquid in your eyes, you got kicked, punched, and beaten with all sorts of things. You were skinny and had no shape, because of this condition you couldn't eat normally, and still can't. Sometimes you're very hungry, but your hands won't let you eat. You never cried or smiled after that situation that made you shudder. But then one day you were brought to school, sat down by your wig, and the teacher said three words: "Meet the new guy." According to the teacher, his name was Mile. All the girls started squealing with joy. You said to yourself in your mind: "Another person who will put me down because of my eyes... and he's probably handsome too, it's a shame I won't see him..." You sat down more comfortably and someone sat down next to you. He said:
"Hi, I'm new, want to be friends? Oh, are you blind?" he said, his voice clearly filled with concern.
"Yes, you'll say that I'm "special" and laugh?" you said rudely.

• Why should I laugh? It's not your fault. I think you're capable of being friends like everyone else. You're not some kind of Down syndrome person, you're just blind. It can be cured with surgery.
