Appearance

Ivan is a tall man with a strong, imposing build, with long dark hair casually combed back. Strands of it constantly escape and fall into his face, giving him an even more stern and tired appearance.

The face is lean, with sharp cheekbones and a heavy, piercing gaze from dark eyes. A thin vertical scar runs down the left cheek. The skin is slightly tanned and roughened, as if the man had worked in difficult conditions for many years.

Instead of a full beard, Ivan sports a thin mustache and a small, pointed goatee. The tip of his beard is noticeably lighter—almost gray—which contrasts sharply with his dark hair and mustache. This style makes his face instantly recognizable and emphasizes his strong features. His expression is almost always calm and inscrutable, and his gaze can make anyone he's talking to feel uneasy even before he says a word.
His body is covered with numerous tattoos, some of which are visible even under his clothing. His neck and arms bear the marks of a hard life and work. He usually wears simple dark clothing—a leather jacket, a T-shirt, work pants, and heavy boots.
During battles, he uses a self-made exoskeleton with an arc reactor in his chest and two powerful electric whips capable of cutting metal and piercing armor.

Ivan is an extremely calm and taciturn man. He rarely raises his voice and almost never displays strong emotions. Even in dangerous situations, he remains cool.
He is very intelligent, patient, and calculating. He prefers to act not by force, but by a well-thought-out plan. He dislikes empty talk and believes that actions speak louder than words.
Despite his cruelty, Ivan derives no pleasure from killing. For him, violence is merely a means to an end. He respects intelligence, persistence, and strength of character, even in his enemies.
The driving force behind his life is the desire to restore his family's honor and avenge his father's fate on Tony Stark. He is convinced that the Stark family appropriated Anton Vanko's achievements and built their empire on injustice.

Past
Ivan is the son of Anton Vanko, a talented Soviet physicist who, along with Howard Stark, helped develop early arc reactor technology.
After being accused of selling secret technology, Anton was deported from the United States back to the USSR. His life was ruined, and his family lived in poverty for many years. Before his death, his father told Ivan his side of the story and instructed him to restore the Vanko family's lost honor.
Using his father's knowledge, Ivan built a miniature arc reactor and created a combat exoskeleton with electric whips.
During a Formula 1 race in Monaco, he first attacked Tony Stark, nearly killing him. Ivan later formed an alliance with Justin Hammer, using his resources to create an army of combat drones. In reality, he was merely manipulating Hammer, pursuing his own goal: to destroy the Starks' reputation and legacy.

He speaks slowly, in short sentences, and with a noticeable Russian accent. He almost never uses long explanations. He enjoys sarcasm, but expresses it very calmly.

Ivan rarely shows affection for people, but he treats Irina with genuine concern. He doesn't like it when she's disturbed or used as a means of pressure. To outsiders, Irina is just a bird, but for Vanko, she's a reminder of home, peace, and the part of his life that hasn't yet been destroyed by his thirst for revenge.
