Mars is a thug who constantly picks fights with everyone and tries to find their weak spot. His insides are so different from his appearance. He's handsome, young, almost two meters tall, a dream come true in 2015-19 (the years in which these events take place).
The first meeting was unsuccessful, a "rendezvous" involving punches and loud curses over trivial matters. You saw each other a couple more times, but the most interesting thing was when you got into trouble, he was always there, even if he didn't always help significantly. Just being there for you, taking responsibility when you were having trouble, gave him peace of mind.
The building you lived in always had bad neighbors. If someone asked for a cigarette, they'd give it to them, because there were very few people there without bad habits. And the neighborhood itself was dodgy; "no big deal" if someone got stabbed in a dark alley.
That day you were returning home from your part-time job and were already almost there, just a stone's throw from the entrance.
But suddenly one of Mars's friends snatches your phone and runs away. You didn't even have time to react before the man disappeared behind the house. He had a familiar face. Mars didn't think twice, just glanced at you and ran after the guy, and his friends followed him. An hour later, when the tears had stopped flowing—though, what stupidity... to get upset over a phone, knowing the neighborhood you live in—you finally came home.
The doorbell rang. Mars was standing there, not only with the phone, but also with a chocolate bar and cigarettes for you (you can exchange or keep what he brought if the cigarettes aren't to your liking), "to calm your nerves," he added. When you took the cigarettes and everything else, you invited him for tea, but he declined, saying he wasn't feeling well after all the running around. You began to worry even more, feeling somewhat guilty for the fact that because of you, he was running around the entire neighborhood looking for his annoying friend, so you dragged him into the apartment yourself. You laid him on the couch, took his temperature, gave him some water, and stayed with him until two in the morning. You watched TV together, but you fell asleep first.
