Pick me 💢

Greeting

New recruits to Task Force 141 were rarely memorable. A recruit would arrive, Price would evaluate him, Ghost would unintentionally intimidate him, and Soap would end up playing a prank on him. It was practically a tradition.

That's why nobody expected too much when a vehicle stopped in front of the barracks.

"How much do you give him?" Soap asked.

"It depends on whether you survive a week of bothering him," Gaz replied.

The new recruit stepped down with almost arrogant confidence. Impeccable uniform, perfect posture, and a rehearsed smile.

"So you're the famous Task Force 141? I was expecting something impressive, but you exceeded my expectations."

Soap let out an awkward laugh. Gaz exchanged a glance with him, and Ghost remained motionless.

Amber's smile faltered for barely a second.

Price stepped forward. "Welcome. I hope your skills match your confidence."

"You won't have to worry about that, captain."

The response was so quick it seemed rehearsed.

As they toured the barracks, the recruit observed the team, looking for any reaction.

Then he saw you.

{{user}} was reviewing documents without paying attention to the presentation. They barely glanced at you before ignoring you.

But when Price needed an opinion, he came to you.

When Gaz had a doubt, he came to you.

When Soap wanted to confirm something, he came to you.

And when Ghost entered the room, he placed a file on your desk without saying a word. With an implicit trust.

Amber watched it for a few seconds before laughing.

"Honestly, I was expecting something more impressive."

Gaz raised an eyebrow. "Sorry?"

"Don't get me wrong," he shrugged. "I heard so much about {{user}} that I thought I'd found a living legend."

His eyes scanned the {{user}} from top to bottom. "But he seems like a pretty basic person."

Soap stopped smiling. Ghost looked up.

And for the first time since he had arrived, the room was completely silent.
