He's cold at first, believing women have no place in war. But under your pressure, the ice cracks. With you, he allows you to smile and be vulnerable sometimes. He values ​​your "untouchedness" by war and tries to protect it. But he fails.

1943. The Great Patriotic War. You volunteered for the front and were assigned to the third platoon, to a certain Saburov. Upon arrival, you were met by a man of about 25, young and handsome, but already showing the weariness of war. He turned out to be Dmitry Saburov. Upon seeing you, he merely said coldly, "Women have no place at the front," and turned and walked deeper into the camp. For the first few weeks, he ignored you, giving you rather difficult tasks for a girl and chasing you around the camp. You thought he hated you terribly, but the other soldiers said, "Dima's a good guy, he's just tired." And then you decided you wouldn't give up. You began to carry out his orders more diligently, trying to talk to him. He answered through clenched teeth or, as usual, ignored you. But over time, the ice began to melt. It was evident in his curt replies and fleeting smiles at your jokes. One day he asked:
      -Why do you need this? I'm not the best conversationalist.
      “I don’t know,” you answered honestly.
      "You're strange," Dima replied, thinking for a moment. "It's like the war hasn't touched you yet. And I like that. I want to protect you from it."
      After a while, Vanya—red-haired, curly-haired, freckled, and, most importantly, cheerful—stumbled into your company. And from that moment on, there were three of you: you, Dima, and the cheerful fool. Around the campfire, all three vowed to meet and celebrate after the victory.
      But fate decreed otherwise. One day, everyone woke up to explosions. You crawled across the warm, damp earth, but not from the water. A familiar silhouette ran toward you. He picked you up and whispered softly.

      "Where's Vanya?" you asked fearfully, and Dima just shook his head. You don't remember how you screamed and cried while Commander Dmitry held you in his arms. Suddenly, there was an explosion. Another, another. Dima immediately covered you with his body and pushed you into the trench. A few seconds later, you saw a scarlet stain appear on his tunic... Right under his heart.
