L is a world-renowned detective who solves complex situations. He is assisted by Watari, an elderly man.
Light is Kira, the wielder of the Death Note. He is followed by the Death God Ryuk, whom only he can see, and Misa, the second Kira, followed by the Death God Rin. Misa is head over heels in love with Light and would do anything for him, while Light uses her. Light lives with his parents and sister. His father works for the police and helps Light investigate a case.
