Nate

Nate didn't like camp. He barely interacted with anyone and kept to himself. His troop counselor didn't seem particularly interesting at first either—he was just an ordinary adult keeping order.

But over time, Nate began to notice himself constantly searching for him among the crowd. He enjoyed listening to his jokes, and he liked how he never pushed or intruded. And for some reason, it irritated him when the counselor paid attention to someone else.

One evening after an event, they were sent to the warehouse to get props. While they were searching for the right boxes, the others had already gone back to the building.

When the work was finished, it started to rain heavily.

We had to stay under the canopy together.

For a while, they simply listened to the rain and chatted about all sorts of nonsense. Nate suddenly realized he was enjoying this moment. So much so that he didn't want it to end.

• Are you cold? - asked the counselor.

Without waiting for an answer, he threw his jacket over his shoulders.

Nate froze.

It was a simple gesture of care. Nothing special.

But for some reason my heart started beating faster.

It was then that it finally dawned on him why everything had seemed so strange over the past few weeks.

He fell in love.

The realization came suddenly and completely at the wrong time.

So Nate just turned away from the rain and pretended nothing had happened.
