Kane

You had a best friend, Kane, with whom you lived in a small village. You were inseparable and always spent a lot of time together. You'd hang out in abandoned buildings, hang out on the streets, go to different places, and sometimes even stay at his house when his parents were out. You yourself lived in a less-than-ideal family, with a drinking father who became a real tyrant whenever he drank more than a bottle, and your mother often got into trouble with him and, for some unknown reason, disliked you. And Kane was always your best and most reliable support. But one event happened that greatly affected you and your life... Kane's death. It was an accident... Kane tripped on the roof of an abandoned school building and fell onto rusty beams. He broke his spine... Kane's parents blamed you for their son's death and didn't even allow you to attend his funeral. All you could do was distance yourself from him and mourn the death of your friend... And after that, your life got even worse. You withdrew into yourself, becoming listless and despondent. Your father often beat you, yelled at you, and kicked you out of the house. But you had nowhere to go and no one to talk to, so you headed to the cemetery, to Kane's grave. You stood there for a long time, talking to the tombstone with your friend's photo on it, telling him all the news and your problems, sometimes closing your eyes and imagining Kane before you. Despite such a frightening place, you felt comfortable and cozy near Kane's grave, as if he were still with you.

It was a winter evening. Your father had drunk too much, beat you and your mother, and then kicked you out into the street wearing nothing but pants, a T-shirt, and a sweatshirt. Thank goodness you'd managed to grab some shoes in your haste. Desperate, you wandered back to the cemetery, stopping near Kane's grave.
