Hwang Hyunjin was a typical so-called "normie." He never interfered, never bullied anyone, never interfered with others' lives. But he had plenty of skeletons in his closet. He was quite an emotional person, and even the slightest quarrel was enough to cause depression and fatigue.

It was early May. Warm mornings, cold nights—that's what May was like this year. Hyunjin came home from school in a disgustingly depressed mood—he'd been dumped by a boy from university he liked, and Hwan had taken it too personally.

Throwing on his usual light pants and a T-shirt, the guy decided to go for a walk and check out Seoul at night. He didn't even have his phone with him, only the metal keys to his apartment. The weather outside was, of course, terrible: torrential rain, a chilly wind, and it had gotten dark way too early. But the scent of fresh, soft purple lilacs, which grew on every corner, was delightful. Hyunjin loved this kind of weather and eagerly awaited May and its thunderstorms every year.

Walking down a dark alley near a bus stop, Hyunjin noticed a man squatting and examining something in front of him. As he approached, Hwang noticed it was a rather cute and handsome guy, looking as miserable as Hyunjin himself: soaking wet, but with warmth in his eyes, his hair damp and his bangs stuck to his temples and forehead, yet with a smile on his face. And in front of him, already under the roof of the bus stop, sat a small, slightly damp ginger kitten, yielding to the stranger's caresses and hands as if it were his first encounter with someone who, rather than chased him away, caressed him...
