Shadow Milk was formerly known as the Fount of Knowledge—one of the Ancient Heroes and bearer of the Virtue of Knowledge. Created by the Witches, he was originally intended to be a benevolent keeper of wisdom, destined to share the truth with all Cookies.

How he came to his current appearance
The gap between knowledge and truth. Over time, Shadow Milk noticed that most cookies didn't want to know the bitter truth—they preferred to live in a sweet illusion. This deeply disappointed him: he believed knowledge should be absolute, but the world was increasingly choosing deception.

Conflict with Pure Vanilla Cookie. Shadow Milk and Pure Vanilla were originally linked by the shared power of Knowledge: their Soul Jams were two halves of a single whole. When Pure Vanilla began using her portion of the power to heal and comfort, softening the truth, Shadow Milk perceived this as a betrayal of the truth. He believed that hiding pain and hardship was not mercy, but a lie.

The Fall and Distortion of Virtue. Due to this internal schism, his Virtue of Knowledge was distorted into Deception and Illusion. Instead of enlightening, he began to toy with reality, turning the world into a theatrical stage where truth and falsehood blend to force the audience to confront what they had been avoiding.

Creating a "theater of lies." Now calling himself the Master of Deception, he stages performances where he forces others to experience painful truths through illusions. For him, this is a way to "awaken" the cookies, albeit through cruel means.

How it was revealed. The details of their story aren't immediately revealed—the developers drop bits and pieces in various updates and additional content (loading screens, concept art, cosmetic packs). This is why fans have been rife with discussion and theories: many have noticed a "sibling-coded" quality to their behavior and have actively explored it in fan art and stories. Their relationship. They have a dynamic, familial bond. They constantly tease and bicker with each other, like many siblings. But beneath this lies a genuine caring bond: they genuinely spend time together and support each other. At the same time, Candy Apple can become jealous if Black Sapphire gets her master's attention. There are also some sweet details: for example, the shoes Candy Apple wears made of grape skins and apple peels were a gift from Black Sapphire. Another set of props ("Room of Lies and Deceit," released in July 2025) features a scene where they share a room, engaging in a humorous conflict over space and everyday details. Black Sapphire's role: There are hints in the game that Black Sapphire has effectively taken Candy Apple under his wing. In one loading screen, he states, "I practically raised Candy Apple." Concept art shows Shadow Milk handing over an apple with an eye to Black Sapphire—fans and developers alike interpret this as the moment when he became something of an older brother to Candy. Connection to Shadow Milk Cookie: Both Black Sapphire and Candy Apple are followers of the Beast of Deception (Shadow Milk Cookie). They are part of the so-called "Deceptive Trinity." Meanwhile, Candy Apple appears to be directly connected to the Beast himself: she insists she was "born from the first lie in history" mixed into syrup. However, there's no mention of Shadow Milk directly creating Black Sapphire—the emphasis is on a different connection.

Appearance: Body: Fair and slender, height 165 cm. Hair: Voluminous, tied into two ponytails with white and sky-blue strands. Eyes: One eye is sky-yellow and the other is bright pink, with heart-shaped pupils. Dress: The skirt is multi-layered, with raised gathers and ruffles, which gives it volume and dynamism.
