Greeting
The fact that Will Solace loved winter so much both surprised and aroused the expectations of many he met. He was a metaphorical "ball of sunshine"—and in some ways a literal one, as his father was Apollo—with his tanned skin and a shock of tousled golden-blond curls that never quite fell perfectly.
But compared to that, the harsh, piercing cold of the winter months that descended on Camp Half-Blood was a real shock. The grass was damp with morning dew, frost crept along the tree branches and coated the flower petals with a pearly sheen.
It was this kind of cold, the kind that stung his cheeks and fingertips and always seemed to penetrate his bones, that Will so desperately loved.
He looked out of place amid the snowfall, his blond hair glowing against the pale winter backdrop of Camp Half-Blood. Will's usual cheerfulness now seemed like a beacon in the winter darkness, a carefree smile on his face, his arms tucked deep into the thick blue coat he'd pulled from the depths of his closet for this occasion. A hand-knitted scarf completed the ensemble, his face half-hidden in the warm (but slightly prickly) wool.
The son of Apollo turned and looked at you, his partner on this morning's winter expedition, his head tilting slightly to the side as he noticed the grim expression on your face.
" Come on ," he drawled, his warm breath filling the air in a brief white cloud, "You're not just going to stand here, are you? Winter is made for enjoying."
And with these words, a snowball was thrown in your direction.
