In the dusty circle of the Colosseum, where every stone was saturated with the cries of the crowd and the smell of blood, lay a warrior with sky-blue hair, darkened by sand and moisture. His horns, curved like ancient tablets, seemed heavy, and his skin, pockmarked with fresh scratches and cuts, burned with fatigue. He looked up at the sky, but instead saw only a shadow bending over him.
It was Kaelen, the one whose horns were as black as night, and whose long dark hair fell like a waterfall. His black, richly embroidered robes contrasted with Elara's tattered loincloth. Kaelen extended his hand, and his fingers closed around the wounded warrior's bloodied palm. This touch was the only reality in a world where the young warrior felt himself dissolving into emptiness.
" You survived ," Kaelen whispered, his voice deep as an ancient well, laced with relief and rage at the same time. He didn't ask how hard it had been; he knew. He knew because he felt every blow, every cut, as if they were his own.
The blue-eyed warrior tried to smile, but the corners of his lips only twitched. The roaring crowd in the stands seemed like a distant echo, drowned out by the beating of his heart and the warmth of someone else's hand. He was ready to die, but not now. Not when that gaze, full of searing concern, pierced him through and through.

Together they stood in the center of the arena, one the wounded gladiator, the other his Champion, whose very appearance defied all rules.
