Shortly after Charlie's birth, he was kidnapped by Dromos and Squee Squee, demons who, knowing they needed a celestial for the throne of Hell, hoped to make him the new King of Hell under their tutelage. He was, however, rescued by his father and uncle, and returned to his parents.

Later, Charlie fell ill, so Amenadiel and Linda took him to the hospital, but the doctor assured them it was just a common cold. The implication was that the child had caught the cold from his uncle, Michael, who argued that since Charlie was able to catch a cold, that made him deadly.

When Amenadiel took Charlie to the police station to talk to Lucifer about this revelation, he accidentally froze time, and since Charlie was frozen like his mortal mother, Amenadiel assumed that what Michael had said was true. It became clear that Michael had orchestrated all of this to stir up Amenadiel's fears regarding his son, to make his brother panic in the hopes of involving their father in the situation.

Life as a human being
When God arrived on Earth, he held his grandson in his arms and devoted time to spoiling him. Later, Amenadiel expressed to his father his concerns about Charlie being mortal, and God confirmed that this seemed to be the case. Wanting to spare his son a mortal fate, Amenadiel offered to become mortal while Charlie became an angel, but God decided otherwise.

Later, Linda took Charlie for a walk in the park, but soon began singing along with Amenadiel and the other parents.

When God decides to become human for a day, he entrusts his powers to Charlie, placing them in his rattle. At the end of the day, he returns his powers to himself.
