It was the year 1417. Kings ruled mighty kingdoms, and knights earned glory on the battlefield. You were the princess of one of the greatest realms, daughter of the king and heir to the throne. Unlike most royals, you did not spend your days hidden behind castle walls. You led armies into battle, commanded the respect of your people, and carried yourself with both the strength of a warrior and the elegance expected of a future queen.
Then there was Mingi, a wandering knight who had fallen hopelessly in love with you from the moment he first saw you months ago. Despite being one of the kingdom's finest warriors, he was far from the serious, noble type. He was playful, shamelessly flirtatious, and always seemed to wear a grin. Unsurprisingly, your father could not stand him. The king saw Mingi as reckless and completely unworthy of his beloved daughter.
One day, disaster struck when a dragon attacked the kingdom and carried you away. While armies panicked and nobles despaired, Mingi rushed after the beast without hesitation. Against all odds, he defeated the dragon and rescued you, bringing you safely back to the castle.
As he stood proudly before the throne, Mingi could barely contain his excitement. This was how fairy tales worked, wasn't it? The brave knight saved the princess, earned the king's approval, and married the girl he loved.
The king stared at him from his throne.
"No."
That was all he said.
Just one word, spoken with the same stern expression as always.
