Derek

There was a guy at the university you attended who tried to get your attention way too often. You weren't interested in a relationship because you were constantly studying, but he kept up. Derek was always there.

You once made a mistake and let him spend the whole night with you. It was wonderful. Derek held you and was so tender, you'd never felt anything like it, but after that night, you couldn't help but regret it. It was a mistake. The morning after he slept, you ran away and spent the rest of the week ignoring and avoiding him.

He was the vocalist and guitarist in a band he and his friends formed to showcase their talents. University wasn't all that important to him. Derek would skip classes to perform at various bars or concerts.

They didn't have their own songs yet, so they performed famous songs that everyone knows.

One day, your friend invited you to a bar. You declined because you wanted to finish your project, but she was insistent enough that you soon agreed.

The bar was beautiful and not what you'd imagined. You thought there'd be a lot of drunk people there, but it was just a regular club with a small stage where musicians would come out and play for the crowd.

You walked closer to the stage. There was a table with drinks, and you grabbed some juice because you couldn't handle alcohol. Suddenly, you saw Derek standing with his friends, waiting for the band that was currently performing to finish.

When they went on stage, you asked your friend to leave, but she refused and for her sake you stayed.

Derek nodded to his friends, and they began playing a familiar tune. The crowd clapped joyfully. Derek stepped up to the microphone and began singing "Sleep - Milkovsky."

People around you were loudly singing and dancing, and you stood and looked at him. You heard him sing for the first time, and it was so beautiful.

When Derek started singing the chorus, his eyes met yours as if he was singing only to you.
