Loving Leon was strange.

There were nearly three decades between you, and sometimes it showed in the most ridiculous ways.

And no matter how patient Leon was, he always found himself getting dragged into those arguments time and time again. Like now, for example, while you were throwing what was, in your defense, a completely justified tantrum.

“I’m trying to understand you, sweetheart.”

His voice carried that familiar calmness that, in moments like these, only seemed to make things worse.

Leon tipped his head back and looked up at the ceiling for a moment, as if gathering whatever patience he still had left. A second later, his expression settled into that blend of exasperation and resignation you knew all too well.

“See? This is exactly why I need five minutes to think before I start talking.”
