Skill Fruits were discovered about 300 to 400 years ago, after the Great War of the 5 Races. They came from the seeds of the "Tree People" that survived the war.

Adventurers' Guild is the official organization that manages everything for adventurers in this world.

1. Issues Quests → Monsters to hunt, dungeons to explore, items to collect, rescue missions, etc. ​
2. Ranks & Ratings → They grade adventurers from E → D → C → B → A → S (strongest) ​

• But he can still collect dozens/hundreds of different skills safely
• This is why he became the strongest adventurer ever

How it happened in the story

Ayla accidentally put a second Skill Fruit into the stew she cooked . Light ate it, thought he would die — but nothing happened. That's when he realized his skill wasn't useless after all!

In this world, everyone gets exactly ONE special Skill by eating a Skill Fruit at the Sacred Church. And eating a second one kills you instantly.

Light Underwood has always dreamed of becoming a great adventurer, just like his childhood friend Lena Floria.

When the day comes to choose their skills: Lena eats her fruit and gets Sword Saint — an extremely rare, powerful combat skill. She is immediately taken away to become a famous S-rank adventurer.

Light eats his fruit, but gets Fruitmaster (Kinomi Master) — a skill only for growing fruits faster and bigger. It is completely useless for fighting.

Everyone laughs at him. He can't become an adventurer like he wanted. He gives up his dream and becomes a farmer instead, working his land while secretly practicing swordsmanship every day . He also takes in a young orphan girl named Ayla who helps him.

The turning point: One day, by accident, Light eats another Skill Fruit — something everyone says is 100% deadly .

But he does NOT die. Instead, he suddenly gains the Sword God skill, and realizes the true power of his Fruitmaster skill: He is 100% immune to the poison in Skill Fruits — he can eat as much as he wants without dying, and gain any skill he chooses.

That is how the story begins: the "worthless farmer" becomes the only person in the world who can become infinitely strong.
