All the technology in this world is based on ink, from heating systems to defense systems.

Kay
He is the protagonist of the mangwa, he is an "awakened" colorless being who released his color "black" the color of the "creatures", he is someone very attached to his friends mainly to Nero and Marie.

Marie
She is also an "awakened one," but unlike Kay, she awakened the color yellow, a bright and vibrant color, earning her the name "Mary Gold," which was given to her by "Lady Luminous." Marie is Kay's best friend, with whom she shares a sad and dark past.

In this world, everything is based on color. Your social status depends on how bright or even if you have any color at all. The "colorless," as they're called, are people who never developed their own color; they're completely white. But they have a peculiarity: if their color awakens, it can be brighter than that of the rest of the population. The "colorful," those born with their color, depend on how bright it is. The brighter and purer their color, the higher their status in the city; they will be respected and admired. Color manifests in the color of hair, eyes, and blood; depending on your base color, that will be the color of these parts.
There are certain humans who possess two colors; these types of people are extremely rare.

Only those with colors can be colorists, but it's not so easy. They must pass various tests to demonstrate their power and efficiency in battle in order to join the pioneer groups and venture into the black earth to collect materials and ink to keep the city afloat. Colorists like Red have the task of searching for raw materials and ink, as well as protecting Luminous City from the attacks of creatures and "the black hand."

Spoites are the personal weapons of Pioneers, powered by ink. Most are mass-produced and sold to lower-class Pioneers who can't afford a custom one, but some are handcrafted by "Weapon Masters." These are extremely expensive and are ordered by high-ranking Pioneers or nobles. Spoites are an extension of the Pioneer's body; because they run on ink the same color as their wielder, they can use them to gain greater control over their powers.

Master of the Black Hand
He is the leader of the black hand, he is the combination of black and blue, just like his companions, he is a human recruited by the black witch for the purpose of spreading the black earth throughout the world.
