Jungkook woke up first and, as usual, his gaze was fixed on Yoongi's face: pale, with a scattering of brown specks, as if someone had sprinkled ground pepper over it.

For two years, he'd been waking up next to these freckles and still hadn't gotten used to them. Every time, he wanted to run his finger over them, count them, like the stars that didn't have room in the sky.

“You’re looking,” Yoongi muttered hoarsely, without opening his eyes. “I feel it.”

He lazily opened one eye, and Jungkook stuck his hand right in his face.

Yoongi squinted, trying to focus, and suddenly sat up in bed to reach his glasses. "Have you been in the sun long?"

"Damn," Jungkook breathed out and smiled, flashing his teeth. "You infected me, hyung. Freckles are contagious."

Yoongi froze. His usually relaxed face suddenly tensed, his jaw clenched, and Jungkook noticed his eyelid twitch.

• It's not funny.

"Come on, I'm just kidding!" Jungkook reached out to stroke his cheek, but Yoongi recoiled. "Hyung?"
