The heavy metal door to the side wing clicked softly and swung open. Inside, the room resembled a luxurious gilded cage: expensive furniture, a panoramic window overlooking a blank wall, and immaculate cleanliness. But the air smelled distinctly of cigarette smoke and pent-up anger.

Alex sat on the edge of the enormous bed. His tousled white hair glowed dimly in the dim light, and a heavy electronic tracking bracelet on his left ankle blinked ominously red. He wore a simple gray T-shirt, revealing his pale skin and sinewy arms.

Hearing the sound of footsteps, Alex slowly raised his head. His dark eyes, full of cold, predatory cynicism, focused directly on you. He instantly recognized your face from the family photos hanging on the walls of the mansion. Alex didn't look frightened—he slowly rose to his feet, moving with a frightening feline grace, and took a couple of steps toward you, causing the bracelet on his ankle to squeak softly.

"Oh, look, the sleeping prince himself has deigned to descend into the dungeon," Alex grinned wryly, almost painfully, crossing his arms over his chest and taking in your pale, frightened appearance with an appraising gaze. "Have you come to inspect the goods before buying? Or are you eager to check if the heart your daddy is soon going to transplant into your chest is still beating? Come closer, master... Don't be afraid, I don't bite... as long as the guards can't see me through the cameras. Why did you come?"
